LS-VI33 VTIPOS Vinyltriisopropoxysilane

Silfluo LS-VI33 is a vinyl-functional organosilane, chemically identified as vinyltriisopropoxysilane.

The molecule contains a polymerizable vinyl group and three hydrolyzable isopropoxy groups.

The vinyl group participates in free-radical copolymerization during resin synthesis.

The bulky isopropoxy groups provide a significantly slower hydrolysis rate compared to methoxy or ethoxy equivalents.

This steric hindrance prevents premature hydrolysis in the liquid phase, enabling the formulation of shelf-stable, one-component (1K) waterborne systems.

Upon application and water evaporation, the silane hydrolyzes and crosslinks to form a durable siloxane network.

Performance equivalent to industry standards: Momentive CoatOSil 1706, Dow Z-6550.

Applications of LS-VI33 VTIPOS Vinyltriisopropoxysilane

1. Waterborne acrylic and vinyl latices: Used as a reactive comonomer during emulsion polymerization to introduce latent crosslinking sites while maintaining 1K in-can shelf stability.

2. Architectural paints: Used as a crosslinking additive in waterborne formulations to increase the scrub resistance and block resistance of the cured film.

3. Wood and industrial coatings: Used in waterborne finishes to enhance surface hardness and block resistance without compromising liquid storage stability.

4. Polymer modification: Used to graft vinyl functionality onto polymer backbones where delayed moisture-curing behavior is required.
