Silfluo LS-M513 is 1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorooctyltrimethoxysilane, a fluoroalkyl-functional trimethoxysilane.
The molecule contains a C6 perfluorinated fluoroalkyl chain and three hydrolyzable methoxy groups on silicon.
The trimethoxysilyl group hydrolyzes and condenses with hydroxylated inorganic surfaces including glass, silica, ceramics, metal oxides, and mineral substrates.
The fluoroalkyl chain reduces surface energy and provides water- and oil-repellent character in selected coating systems.
Used in anti-fingerprint, easy-to-clean, anti-smudge, release, and mineral surface treatment formulations.
