Silfluo LS-M517 is 1H,1H,2H,2H-Perfluorodecyltrimethoxysilane, a long-chain fluoroalkyl-functional trimethoxysilane.

The molecule contains a C8 perfluorinated carbon chain and three hydrolyzable methoxy groups on silicon.

The trimethoxysilyl group hydrolyzes and condenses with hydroxylated inorganic surfaces including glass, silica, ceramics, and metal oxides.

The fluoroalkyl chain reduces surface energy and provides water- and oil-repellent character in selected coating systems.

Used in anti-fingerprint, easy-to-clean, anti-smudge, release, and low-surface-energy coating formulations.
