Polyether-modified heptamethyltrisiloxane organosilicon, is a kind of surfactant. It is mainly used as an adjuvant in various agricultural chemicals such as insecticides, fungicides, herbicides, plant growth regulators, foliar fertilizers, trace elements, and biopesticides. Its unique T-shaped umbrella structure exhibits excellent performance at interfaces, significantly reducing the surface tension of water. This rapid wetting of plant leaves and insect surfaces promotes the rapid expansion, penetration, absorption, water-saving, and efficiency. Adding this organosilicon before pesticide spraying can reduce the surface tension of water to below 21 mN/m, allowing droplets to wet almost all plant leaves. It has strong penetration and rain resistance, saving 30% to 50% of pesticide usage. When used in plant growth regulators and foliar fertilization, it enables the rapid expansion, penetration, and absorption of the agents through the stomata on the plant leaves. It facilitates the spreading, wetting, and penetration of insect pests' waxy epidermis, aiding in contact killing of adults and eggs when used with insecticides and fungicides.
In practical agricultural production, the application of chemical agents is the most effective means of preventing and controlling plant diseases and pests. However, it often leads to environmental pollution and pesticide residues on crops, posing serious safety hazards and falling short of the requirements for sustainable agriculture. With the rise of green agriculture, there is a demand for alternative pest control technologies that are free of pollution. Based on field experiments, a new application for a pesticide has been discovered - directly diluting polyether-modified heptamethyltrisiloxane organosilicon with water for direct spraying, showing good insecticidal effects.
